Ronald Gilmour Everson was born on 18 November 1903 in Oshawa, Ontario. He earned a B.A. in 1927 from the University of Toronto and an LL.B. in 1930 from Osgoode Hall Law School. In 1936, Everson moved to Montreal and went into public relations work. He was a founding member of The League of Canadian Poe.
His first book of poetry, Three dozen poems, was published in 1957. He wrote more than a dozen books and pamphlets of poetry and was published in many anthologies and magazines. Although most of his life was lived in Montreal, he died in Burlington, Ontario in 1992.
